Fallsview Casino Resort lit up at night beside the American Falls, Niagara Falls

Canada's casino resorts, reviewed.

Ten real resorts across five provinces, judged the way you would use them: somewhere to sleep, eat well and catch a show, with the casino a short walk from your room.

A great casino resort is a short holiday at a single address. We judged ten of them, in five provinces, first as places to stay: the rooms, the restaurants, the stage and how easy they are to reach. The gaming floor matters, but it is only one part of the weekend.

Ontario

Four resorts spread from the Detroit River to the Niagara escarpment and the lakes north of Toronto. This is where the 5,000-seat stages are.

Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino

Windsor, Ontario · Best for a concert weekend

Ontario's casino era began right here, with a temporary Windsor casino in 1994. The riverfront resort opened in 1998 and became Caesars in 2008.

No hotel in this guide is bigger: 758 rooms split between the Augustus and Forum towers, looking across the Detroit River at the Detroit skyline. The Colosseum seats 5,000 for concerts. Book Neros Steakhouse for the big dinner and keep Spago Trattoria, Legends Sports Bar and Café 377 for the rest of the stay.

Ask for a room facing the water: many of the 372 rooms and suites look straight at the falls. Two stages share the bill, the 5,000-seat OLG Stage for headliners and the 1,500-seat Avalon Theatre. Dinner is 21 Club Steak & Seafood or Ponte Vecchio, and OVERTIME Sports Bar & Lounge has the game on.

Playing it safe

Treat the casino as one line in the weekend budget, next to the show tickets and the dinner bill. Pick an amount before you walk in, leave the cards in the room and call it a night when it is gone. Every casino here checks government photo ID at the door. If gambling ever feels like more than entertainment, each province runs a free, confidential helpline.

18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. 19+ in every other province.

How we review

A resort qualifies only when its hotel and casino share the property or connect indoors. Facts come from each operator's published information and were last checked in October 2026. Nobody paid for a place in the guide, or for a higher one.

  1. 1

    The rooms

Is the hotel worth booking on its own merits? We look at room count, suites and how the rooms feel.

  2. 2

    The floor

How much there is to play: slots, live tables, poker rooms and any high-limit areas.

  3. 3

    The table

Whether you can have a proper dinner on site, from a steakhouse booking to a late bite at the bar.

  4. 4

    The stage

A real theatre or concert hall that books touring acts, rather than a lounge with a band.

  5. 5

    The journey

How far the resort is from the nearest city and airport, and how simple the trip is.

  6. 6

    Everything else

Spa, pool, golf, scenery: whatever turns a casino visit into a proper weekend away.

Questions readers ask

Which resort in the guide has the biggest hotel?

Caesars Windsor, with 758 rooms in its Augustus and Forum towers. Parq Casino in Vancouver is second, with 517 rooms between its two Marriott hotels.

How old do you need to be to gamble at a Canadian casino?

18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and 19 in every other province. Carry government-issued photo ID: it is checked at the casino door, hotel guests included.

Can I visit the casino without booking a room?

Yes. Anyone of legal age can use the gaming floor, the restaurants and the theatre. A room just saves you the trip home after a late dinner or show.

Are any of these resorts connected to First Nations?

Two of them. River Rock has been owned since June 2026 by a partnership led by the Snuneymuxw First Nation's Petroglyph Development Group with Musqueam Capital, and Casino Rama is built on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.

Do resorts pay to appear in Maple Marquee?

No. The order is our own editorial call, weighing the hotel, the gaming floor, the food, the entertainment and how easy the trip is. We have no ties to any resort reviewed here.

What should I do if gambling stops being fun?

Call your province's free, confidential helpline; every number is listed under Playing it safe. Any casino's security or guest services desk can also explain its voluntary self-exclusion programme.
